Pierre, thanks for the input. I kind of liked the various directions in this picture but feel the whole has a forward momentum. I'd change the hat on the guy but, hey, I was on a balcony and he was walking by. No choice there.

It's a very cool picture, with great textures and a well done B&W conversion. I however think it is not as strong as it could be. I believe this is the case because the pictures hesitates between the candid and the abstract, between the man and his dog or their shadows. The details on the man, that horrible line on his jacket, the thin body of the dog goes in the first direction, while the hat that hide the face, the accentuated shadows, the texture on the ground goes in the other.
I think this would be easy to make this more abstract thru cropping and slight processing changes, while to get a great candid, you'll need a reshoot :)
Of course, this is just my humble opinion...
